PENCIL SKETCHING

I know that I am no one to talk about pencil sketching. It has been months that i have touched my pencil with an intention to draw something. But now, let me take you through some of my pencil sketches and share some tips i have been using and the defects in them.

These are daily life objects which are taken as subjects. Mind you!! this is just a practice drawing not an artwork or anything. So here are the objects that i have chosen, my jug, specs, study table, hostel room, chair etc...

Even my window panes were taken for practice drawing.

I have used to draw outlines but never made it prominent. the shape itself was made always with pencil rendering. Then again the use of scale. It is advisable not to use any instruments like that as it decreases the skill to make straight lines of your own, and its not that easy to make corrections if a mistake is made.
Reduce the use of erasers on practice drawing so that it  is easy for you to develop a habit of correcting your drawings using your pencil itself and yes, not to make much mistakes

Make the drawing not that darker so that it does not look bad if you want to make any changes in them. And please don't use the smudging technique everywhere as it makes the sketch look more and more fake sometimes. But  yes! its advisable to use this technique in small areas while you are drawing human faces and all. but still I would tell not to use it too much.

Still its my technique that I am sharing with you please don't follow if you have a YOU style in your sketching.

Practice line drawings and mind drawings as well. so that you can improve your line quality , speed and imagination..

Thank you

Ganesha chathurthi.

It was the last day before the assignment submission in NIFT college. Normally its the time when nift students start thinking about their submissions for next day and plan the rest hours accordingly. Of course there are people that are exceptional. But I am someone who fits into the majority that i told you before.
There is a reason why I have taken this evening for my photography journalism assignment. The ganesh chathurthi day.
a family get together
Many of my friends were planning to click the same event for the same assignment. And i had given attention to my superstitions also. It is being said that if we look up to moon on a vinayaka chathurthi night, it would be a very bad omen throughout the year. Actually i was not aware of this before but when my friend athul told me this, I started giving attention to this rather than my routine mynas.
the Vinayaka idol

So I was looking onto ground, watching my steps slowly and slowly and we reached before the temple nearby. I was not shocked to see those children who were being used as beggars there as its seen in many places in the city.
A smile behind

I personally do not know who taught them to do so, anyway they had that professional taste of begging taught by some anti social elements and I started clicking their photographs. And they became so interested when they saw a lady with a camera in front of them watching them closely and clicking their pictures. I did not ask them where they are from or who made them what they are. They looked happy and playful at times. And when a crowd appears they are on duty. I spent some time with them before the temple.
Missing the colors

By the time, my friends who went to click the vinayaka chathurthi pictures came back with a news that the main event of vidhanam (the process of putting the holy idol of ganesha into nearby waterbodies) was not about to take place on that day. But i was least interested in that and i went behind those kids.
Acting professional

At last when I finished my clicks, the younger one among them hold my hands and asked me for the printed copy. I told them that i would give that if I get to take a print out of the same and i went on and the three of them were looking at me and waving their hands saying bye.
I went on walking for some more time where I found some people dancing in front of the holy idol,  some drunk and enjoying their ride home and of course a scary event too,
Dance for ganesha
"Its not our fault"

a black one eyed dog following me for a long time after going to a public cemetery nearby(for some interesting clicks: the failed mission).
The day ended with some more similar clicks of ganesha from another temple.

The story of a sareeeee

We find a lot varieties in sarees, especially in India. Kancheepuram, Banarsi, Kalamkari, Ikkat, Cotta, Mangalgiri, Mysore silk, Kasavu pudava.. are some of them known to me. There are a lot others which are not known and being made and sold in India itself.

It is being told that its from the paintings of Raja Ravi varma that the saree became India's national costume.
The dieties he had portrayed in saree or a piece of cloth of approximately 5-6 metres draped in a certain way that covers the whole body and sticks to the body of a woman so easily.
So ever you thought of how these sarees are emerged??
The luxury of a woven silk saree is not seen in a weaver's house. They make them look shiny by taking the shine of their own life.
Most of the weavers I met in Kollegal, Karnataka, India says that they do not want their children to the weaving practice. The reason is concrete here that they do not want them to suffer their whole lilfe as they did. They hardly saw anybody from their hpome wearing these luxurious saris.
A saree is born this way

Nandi hills

Morning by five we left.. For me it was not a journey which was so exciting. I have never heard much of the place and I didn't know what I would find there. But I enjoyed the journey just because I am a person who would love to go out with friends and make a blast.

By around 6 in the morning we reached there in Nandi hills. I was so excited to see the place and the climate. The moment we jumped out from the van, I saw a lot of monkeys rushing towards our vehicle.
The very moment we closed the windows and went on to the NANDI HILLS..
It was like a lucid dream that I have a control on.

I could see a lot of moods there.. romantic, scary (if alone), history, freezing, beauty...

Athul.. just before he getting lost from us.. we got him back only after our tour to the place got over.

The wind sounded as if it had some waterfall nearby..
